This intricate Christmas Angel is skilfully plaited using traditional plaits with a wonderful contemporary twist. She is made from old fashioned varieties of wheat grown in the Midlands, the wheat is also harvested in the old way of using a binder.
She is beautifully finished using natural hessian for her wings.
People have plaited wheat for centuries for many purposes, like hats and jewellery, however the ritual of making an image of the harvest goddess can be traced back 7000 years.
